Nevertheless David took the stronghold of Zion; the same is the city of

Solomon in Jerusalem, to bring up the ark of the covenant of Yahweh out of the
city of David, which is Zion.

21 This is the word that Yahweh has spoken concerning him: The virgin daughter
of Zion has despised you and ridiculed you; the daughter of Jerusalem has
shaken her head at you.
31 For out of Jerusalem shall go forth a remnant, and out of Mount
Zion those who shall escape: the zeal of Yahweh shall perform this.

5 Yahweh will create over the whole habitation of Mount Zion, and over
her assemblies, a cloud and smoke by day, and the shining of a flaming fire by
night; for over all the glory will be a canopy.

Behold, I and the children whom Yahweh has given me are for signs and for
wonders in Israel from Yahweh of Armies, who dwells in Mount Zion.

foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious cornerstone of a sure foundation.
He who believes shall not act hastily.

It will be like when a hungry man dreams, and behold, he eats; but he awakes,
and his hunger isn’t satisfied; or like when a thirsty man dreams, and behold,
he drinks; but he awakes, and behold, he is faint, and he is still thirsty. The
multitude of all the nations that fight against Mount Zion will be like
that.
Is 30:19
For the people will dwell in Zion at Jerusalem. You will weep no more. He
will surely be gracious to you at the voice of your cry. When he hears you, he
will answer you.

4 For thus says Yahweh to me,
“As the lion and the young lion growling over his prey,
if a multitude of shepherds is called together against him,
will not be dismayed at their voice,
nor abase himself for the noise of them,
so Yahweh of Armies will come down to fight on Mount Zion and on its
heights.
9 His rock will pass away by reason of terror,
and his princes will be afraid of the banner,”
says Yahweh, whose fire is in Zion,
and his furnace in Jerusalem.

5 Yahweh is exalted, for he dwells on high.
He has filled Zion with justice and righteousness.
14 The sinners in Zion are afraid.
Trembling has seized the godless ones.
Who among us can live with the devouring fire?
Who among us can live with everlasting burning?
20 Look at Zion, the city of our appointed festivals.
Your eyes will see Jerusalem, a quiet habitation,
a tent that won’t be removed.
Its stakes will never be plucked up,

escape from Mount Zion. The zeal of Yahweh of Armies will perform

You who tell good news to Zion, go up on a high mountain.
You who tell good news to Jerusalem, lift up your
voice with strength.
Lift it up. Don’t be afraid.
Say to the cities of Judah, “Behold, your God!”

I am the first to say to Zion, ‘Behold, look at them;’
and I will give one who brings good news to Jerusalem.

7 How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of him who brings good news, who
publishes peace, who brings good news of good, who publishes salvation, who says
to Zion, Your God reigns!
8 The voice of your watchmen! they lift up the voice, together do they sing; for
they shall see eye to eye, when Yahweh returns to Zion.
Is 59:20
A Redeemer will come to Zion, and to those who turn from disobedience in
Jacob, says Yahweh.
Is 60:14
The sons of those who afflicted you shall come bending to you; and all those who
despised you shall bow themselves down at the soles of your feet; and they shall
call you The city of Yahweh, The Zion of the Holy One of Israel.

to appoint to those who mourn in Zion, to give to them a garland for

Behold, the voice of the cry of the daughter of my people from a land that is
very far off: isn’t Yahweh in Zion? Isn’t her King in her? Why have
they provoked me to anger with their engraved images, and with foreign vanities?

For a voice of wailing is heard out of Zion, How are we ruined! we are
greatly confounded, because we have forsaken the land, because they have cast
down our dwellings.

Micah the Morashtite prophesied in the days of Hezekiah king of Judah; and he
spoke to all the people of Judah, saying, Thus says Yahweh of Armies: Zion
shall be plowed as a field, and Jerusalem shall become heaps, and the
mountain of the house as the high places of a forest.

For I will restore health to you, and I will heal you of your wounds, says
Yahweh; because they have called you an outcast, saying, It is Zion,
whom no man seeks after.

6 For there shall be a day, that the watchmen on the hills of Ephraim shall cry,
Arise you, and let us go up to Zion to Yahweh our God.
12 They shall come and sing in the height of Zion, and shall flow to the

5 They shall inquire concerning Zion with their faces turned toward it, saying,
Come you, and join yourselves to Yahweh in an everlasting covenant that shall
not be forgotten.
28 The voice of those who flee and escape out of the land of Babylon, to declare
in Zion the vengeance of Yahweh our God, the vengeance of his temple.

10 Yahweh has brought forth our righteousness: come, and let us declare in Zion
the work of Yahweh our God.
24 I will render to Babylon and to all the inhabitants of Chaldea all their evil
that they have done in Zion in your sight, says Yahweh.

8 Yahweh has purposed to destroy the wall of the daughter of Zion;
He has stretched out the line, he has not withdrawn his hand from destroying;
He has made the rampart and wall to lament; they languish together.
10 The elders of the daughter of Zion sit on the ground, they keep
silence;
They have cast up dust on their heads; they have girded themselves with
sackcloth:
The virgins of Jerusalem hang down their heads to the ground.
13 What shall I testify to you? what shall I liken to you, daughter of
Jerusalem?
What shall I compare to you, that I may comfort you, virgin daughter of Zion?
For your breach is great like the sea: who can heal you?
18 Their heart cried to the Lord:
wall of the daughter of Zion, let tears run down like a river day and
night;
Give yourself no respite; don’t let the apple of your eye cease.

2 The precious sons of Zion, comparable to fine gold,
How are they esteemed as earthen pitchers, the work of the hands of the potter!
11 Yahweh has accomplished his wrath, he has poured out his fierce anger;
He has kindled a fire in Zion, which has devoured its foundations.
22 The punishment of your iniquity is accomplished, daughter of Zion; he
will no more carry you away into captivity:
He will visit your iniquity, daughter of Edom; he will uncover your sins.

and Jerusalem with iniquity.

8 You, tower of the flock, the hill of the daughter of Zion,
to you it will come,
yes, the former dominion will come,
the kingdom of the daughter of Jerusalem.
10 Be in pain, and labor to bring forth, daughter of Zion,
like a woman in travail;
for now you will go forth out of the city,
and will dwell in the field,
and will come even to Babylon.
There you will be rescued.
There Yahweh will redeem you from the hand of your enemies.
11 Now many nations have assembled against you, that say,
“Let her be defiled,
and let our eye gloat over Zion.”
13 Arise and thresh, daughter of Zion;
for I will make your horn iron,
and I will make your hoofs brass;
and you will beat in pieces many peoples:
and I will devote their gain to Yahweh,
and their substance to the Lord of the whole earth.
Zp 3:14,16
14 Sing, daughter of Zion! Shout, Israel! Be glad and rejoice with all
your heart, daughter of Jerusalem.
16 In that day, it will be said to Jerusalem, “Don’t be afraid, Zion.
Don’t let your hands be slack.”
Zc 1:14,17
14 So the angel who talked with me said to me, “Proclaim, saying, ‘Thus says
Yahweh of Armies: “I am jealous for Jerusalem and for Zion with a great
jealousy.
17 “Proclaim further, saying, ‘Thus says Yahweh of Armies: “My cities will
again overflow with prosperity, and Yahweh will again comfort Zion, and
will again choose Jerusalem.”’”

7 ‘Come, Zion! Escape, you who dwell with the daughter of Babylon.’
10 Sing and rejoice, daughter of Zion; for, behold, I come, and I will
dwell in the midst of you,’ says Yahweh.

2 Thus says Yahweh of Armies: “I am jealous for Zion with great
jealousy, and I am jealous for her with great wrath.”
3 Thus says Yahweh: “I have returned to Zion, and will dwell in the midst
of Jerusalem. Jerusalem shall be called ‘The City of Truth;’ and the
mountain of Yahweh of Armies, ‘The Holy Mountain.’”

9 Rejoice greatly, daughter of Zion!
Shout, daughter of Jerusalem!
Behold, your king comes to you!
He is righteous, and having salvation;
lowly, and riding on a donkey,
even on a colt, the foal of a donkey.
13 For indeed I bend Judah as a bow for me.
I have filled the bow with Ephraim;
and I will stir up your sons, Zion,
against your sons, Greece,
and will make you like the sword of a mighty man.
